Research Interests
Brain Injury Rehabilitation
It is estimated that 1.3 million people in the UK are living with a brain injury, and this figure is rising year on year. Given the vast number of people living with a brain injury, we must continue to research new rehabilitation techniques to improve quality of life for those affected. Shannon's research explores how music can improve rehabilitation outcomes for brain injury patients.
Music Psychology
Music is a constant in our everyday lives and is something we are exposed to daily through radio or TV. Shannon's research explores why we listen to music, the importance of music, and how this changes across the lifespan. It is also concerned with factors that may affect our music use, such as identity or emotions, and how music can be used to improve our wellbeing.
